Charismatic, Intelligent, Deceptive…
these are words that many people use to describe President Obama. A popular belief in Christian circles is that Barack Obama may be the prophesied Antichrist. Many have said, “Obama has the power, charisma, and ungodly character that the Antichrist will possess…why should I believe that he’s not the Antichrist?”
True, the Bible does tell us that the Antichrist will be a powerful and deceitful leader (Daniel 11:23 & Revelation 13:5-7). In fact, the Bible contains over fifty prophecies that give us a wealth of information about how the Antichrist will behave. However, contrary to popular belief, the identity of the Antichrist cannot be determined by something as simple as charisma or deceitfulness alone. The few character traits that describe the man of sin can be applied to many people; including Barack Obama. So, how will we know if Obama is really the Antichrist?
Daniel 7:7-8 (KJV)
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. 8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
It is a well-known fact that the beast (nation) described in Daniel 7:7-8 is the revived Holy Roman Empire (see my post on Daniel’s Prophecies Revealed). According to Daniel 7:24, the ten horns that ascend out of the head of the fourth beast are ten kings. Another horn, known as the little horn, rises after the first ten. A point of interest from the passage above is that the little horn comes up among the ten kings, and uproots three of them. Further, it is also a well-known fact that the little horn in Daniel 7:7-8 represents the Antichrist. Now, you may ask, “how do we know that the little horn represents the Antichrist?”
Daniel 7:24-25 (KJV)
24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
The Bible tells us that the little horn, which rises among ten other horns, will speak great words and wear out the saints. It should be noted that Revelation 13:5-7 gives an account of the same person. Also, notice that in Revelation 13:5-7, the one in view is referred to as the beast. Where else do we read about the beast in the book Revelation? Revelation 13:15-18 tells us the false prophet, “causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” The mark of the beast is the system that the Antichrist will use to force conformity to his agenda. Clearly, beast is a title that is ascribed to the Antichrist. So, to summarize – the little horn is the beast, and the beast is the Antichrist. Therefore, the Antichrist is the little horn of Daniel 7.
Now, at this juncture, the subject at hand gets interesting. As I stated before, many intelligent people believe that Barack Obama is the Antichrist. The prophecies, on the other hand, present a completely different point of view. If Barack Obama is to become the Antichrist…he will somehow become associated with the revived Holy Roman Empire (European Union), become the leader of one of the nations (Daniel 11:22), and then rise among ten kings (nations) while uprooting three of them. Will this happen? Only time will tell….
